Paternity Leave (RA 8187)
Married male employees are entitled to paid leave for the birth of their child.
Key Provisions:
- Duration: 7 working days with full pay
- Coverage: First 4 deliveries of legitimate spouse
- When to avail: After delivery for child care and support
Eligibility:
- Married male employee
- Cohabiting with spouse at time of delivery
- Must notify employer of pregnancy and expected date of delivery
Note:
Under RA 11210, the wife can also allocate 7 days of her maternity leave to the husband, giving him a potential total of 14 days.
