Solo Parent Leave (RA 8972)

Solo parents are entitled to additional leave benefits to care for their children.

Key Provisions:

  • Duration: 7 working days per year with full pay
  • Eligibility: After 1 year of service
  • Non-convertible: Cannot be converted to cash if unused
  • Non-cumulative: Does not carry over to next year

Who qualifies as a Solo Parent?

  • Unmarried parent raising child without support from other parent
  • Widowed parent
  • Parent whose spouse is detained or incapacitated
  • Parent whose spouse abandoned the family for at least 1 year

Requirements:

Must present a Solo Parent ID issued by the DSWD
