Solo Parent Leave (RA 8972)
Solo parents are entitled to additional leave benefits to care for their children.
Key Provisions:
- Duration: 7 working days per year with full pay
- Eligibility: After 1 year of service
- Non-convertible: Cannot be converted to cash if unused
- Non-cumulative: Does not carry over to next year
Who qualifies as a Solo Parent?
- Unmarried parent raising child without support from other parent
- Widowed parent
- Parent whose spouse is detained or incapacitated
- Parent whose spouse abandoned the family for at least 1 year
Requirements:
Must present a Solo Parent ID issued by the DSWD
